Colleen Mensel is the Executive Director of a non-profit in Southern California. She didn’t start out thinking of working for a non-profit. She started with a passion for horses and the outdoors, she wanted to show horses and become an Equine Veterinarian (horse doctor). She purchased her first untamed horse, as a teen after saving quarters for three and a half years. When a medical condition brought an end to her dream she looked to another passion preserving history. She is the person behind the Heritage Museum of Orange County in California; a museum that educates students and visitors in the history and heritage of the county and the country. She is working to make the museum an educational step back in time for all who visit…and they have a complete blacksmiths barn where her love of horses still gets to shine.
