Jennifer Liu Bryan and Hazel Cole Kendle are the new Cole Family storytellers. As Hazel remembers their family’s storyteller was, Ruble, who passed down to her the tale of a very special family Christmas that took place when Hazel’s father was working as a coal miner and the family was living in the small town of Benham, Kentucky. She often wished that she had paid more attention when her parents told stories of their upbringing in the mountains of Appalachia, or when her brothers and sisters spun tales of their childhood adventures. Now, as the last of the nine children in the family, she shares as much as she can of those family tales with new generations of the Cole family, a time to remember of home, hearth and family; a special granddaughter, grandmother project to share with your family.

Yes Christmas, yip we are early but anyone with young children in their lives will want to get this book and I want to give you plenty of notice. The story is about small town America in the Appalachia Mountains and many of the adventures from the family. Dr. Nancy Irwin originally trained as an opera singer; a lovely southern lady from Atlanta. Both her Bachelor and Masters are in Music and Opera Performance. She even sang in Carnegie Hall. In New York City she became one of the many seeking singer/actress stardom but ended up being successful doing something else. Off to Los Angeles because she was a blond, there after a successful stint as a comedian she turned her back on the entertainment world to become a psychologist and made her U-Turn after working with a shelter. Her new book titled: You Turn, chronicles 43 transition stories of making successful U-turns in life…real people that have changed themselves and their lives forever.

Introduction

Dr. Nancy Irwin has the most interesting background from opera singer to stand up comedian and now a psycho-therapest. Her new book You Turn is all about making changes. She chronicled 40 stories wonderful stories and she will share some of them with us today. As I have said many times…there are so many amazing women out there and Nancy is one of them.

Colleen Mensel is the Executive Director of a non-profit in Southern California. She didn’t start out thinking of working for a non-profit. She started with a passion for horses and the outdoors, she wanted to show horses and become an Equine Veterinarian (horse doctor). She purchased her first untamed horse, as a teen after saving quarters for three and a half years. When a medical condition brought an end to her dream she looked to another passion preserving history. She is the person behind the  Heritage Museum of Orange County in California; a museum that educates students and visitors in the history and heritage of the county and the country. She is working to make the museum an educational step back in time for all who visit…and they have a complete blacksmiths barn where her love of horses still gets to shine.

Introduction

Colleen Mensel is the ideal blend of what constitutes the 21st Century woman of the Arts; with a passion for preserving history a degree in Microbiology, a diverse background in medical management and the proud mother of two. She is the driving force behind a local nonprofit museum. She steers a creative and uniquely talented and diverse team into making the museum a place to visit for locals and out of town visitors of all ages… a place for education and celebration.
